The Russell Street bombing killed 21-year old policewoman Constable Angela Taylor. She was the first policewoman to be killed in the line of duty. 21 other people were injured by the blast. A stolen Holden car, packed with gelignite, exploded with such force that parts of the car landed on a building 100 metres away and the road was strewn with schrapnel. Three people were found guilty in relation to this incident and a fourth gang member went to prison in relation to other matters, including shooting a police officer.
