Prisoner rescues police

Mounted Constable Johns, seen above with 2 colleagues,
was bringing 4 Aboriginal prisoners into Pine Creek. Whilst crossing
the ?ooded Winton River, he was swept from his horse. One of the
prisoners, Neighbour, right, rescued Johns. He was awarded the Albert Medal for his courageous action. The court charge against Neighbour was later dismissed. He was awarded the Albert
