Commonwealth Police (FCT) was formed on the 28th September 1927. The Peace Officer Guard (POG) came into being in April 1926 'for the Preservation of Peace throughout the Commonwealth and took on a general investigative role, inquiring into the administration of Commonwealth law, as well as applications for old-age pensions, offences under electoral law and breaches of the taxation law.'
