Queensland Medal for Merit

On 4 October 1906 Commissioner W.G. Cahill signed a memorandum announcing the institution of a departmental gallantry award to be known as the Medal for Merit. The Criteria for the awarding of the Medal was 'when a member of the Police Force, in the performance of police duty, displays pre-eminent bravery'
