"The primary object of any Police Force is the prevention of crime; the next is the detection and bringing to justice of offenders. To these ends all efforts of members of the Tasmanian Police Force, wherever stationed, are directed. Despite our continued and strenuous efforts, numerous crimes are committed and, although the majority of these are solved by the arrest of the wrongdoer, the best way of dealing with crime is to prevent it from happening. To achieve this we need the wholehearted co-operation of all citizens. This booklet has been prepared to give you some idea of how you can assist in preventing crime by ensuring the security of your property. The Tasmania Police confidently ask for your co-operaation and assisstance in their "Crime Prevention" campaign." W. J. Delderfirld, M.V.O., J.P. Commissioner of Police of Tasmania.
