New South Wales Police

The Police Telephone Centre was the main switchboard for the NSW Police. It handled the Police '000' emergency calls from the public. It was located in police premises in Surry Hills which also housed the CIB and Scientific and Technical Services the Telephone Centre being part of the latter. It was commonly known as the Police Switch or '20966', which was the listed telephone number for the NSW Police in the public telephone directory of the day.
