Roadblock gunfight

NT 1999
Glen Huitson
Northern Territory Police

Brevet Sergeant Glen Huitson died as a result of gunshot wounds. He was stationed at a roadblock in the rural area of Darwin following an armed incident the previous night in which two civilians were shot. The gunman, 44-year-old Rod Ansell who apparently inspired the knock-about character made famous by Paul Hogan in the hit movie, 'Crocodile Dundee', fired towards the road block, where B/Sgt Huitson was talking to civilian motorists. He died soon afterwards as a result of his injury. The gunman was shot dead by police.
